LdC: 5 OM supporters arrested after violence at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Just after the 2-0 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the first day of the Champions League group stage, Marseille fans created incidents by throwing projectiles and smoke bombs at opposing fans and security forces, in addition to tearing down a banner. OM faces sanctions from UEFA, which has also opened an investigation. We also learn from The Athletic that 5 Marseille supporters were arrested and that a policeman was injured during the arrest. A press release was issued by law enforcement. “Five people were arrested during the Champions League match between Tottenham and Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday September 7. The arrests were for a variety of offences, including offensive weapons, fighting, drunkenness and disorder, and drugs. All those arrested are said to be supporters of the visiting team. During the match, projectiles were thrown several times. An officer was injured during an arrest and suffered a suspected broken hand. There was serious disorder at the end of the game and additional officers were deployed to restore and maintain order.
