Orozco, Miguel Ríos and Manu Chao, luxury trio to close the Sonna Huesca Festival – Heraldo.es

The monastery of La Cartuja de Nuestra Señora de las Fuentes, in Sariñena, is finalizing all the details to experience a great weekend of music as it will be the scene of the closing of the Sounds of Nature Festival (Sonna) organized by the Provincial Council from Huesca. And it will do so with a luxury trilogy with concerts by Antonio Orozco (Friday the 9th), Miguel Ríos & The Black Betty Trío (Saturday the 10th) and Manu Chao (Sunday the 11th). Just like Juan Perro did in 2020 or Amaral and Rozalén last year, the Cartuja will put the finishing touch to the third edition of a contest that has toured unique outdoor spaces in the ten counties of Alto Aragonese with 27 music, circus and paratheatrical shows, since will be inaugurated on July 8 in the town of Tamarite de Litera. The only three paid concerts of the entire program (most of the performances only required the payment of 1 euro as a place reservation fee) have already completed the three quarters of its capacity (2,000 people each), but there are still tickets left. Prices are 35 euros for Orozco, 30 for Miguel Ríos and 21 for Manu Chao. With more than 1.5 million records sold, one diamond record, ten platinum records and numerous gold records, Antonio Orozco is one of the most successful and beloved artists of Spanish music. Since the beginning, the successes have marked a career with more than 2,500 concerts in Spain, Europe and Latin America. With his tenth album, ‘Aviónica’, he began his most international tour to date, which culminated last summer with 53 concerts, 50 of them ‘sold out’ and more than 80,000 spectators. In 2022 it will continue touring Spain and will land in the last quarter at the Wizink Center in Madrid or the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. The return of a rock myth Meanwhile, Miguel Ríos has returned to the stage with his ‘A long time’ tour together to her new band, The Black Betty Trio. Last year, this tireless rocker published ‘El blues de la Senior Age’, his first unreleased song in 12 years; ‘La ancestry of Cain’, a complete criticism that reflects on the pandemic and the most fragile points of our system; and finally, a new LP that was released in June 2021 under the title that gives its name to the current tour, ‘A long time’. Accompanied by an original acoustic format -without drums, but with guitars, piano, violin or mandolin- but electrifying, he will perform the new repertoire, with songs from the new album, special versions and greatest hits. And the final fireworks will arrive on Sunday with the multifaceted French artist of Spanish origin Manu Chao, founder of Mano Negra. The Sonna Huesca organization announced its incorporation to the program in August and the capacity is very close to being filled. Mythical songs from their works ‘Clandestino’, ‘Próxima Estación Esperanza’ or ‘Desaparecido’ will sound at the concert of this global music reference , multicultural and multi-linguistic, where rock, punk, reggae or ska are mixed with lyrics of social denunciation with a great emotional charge, addressing issues such as immigration, economic and social marginalization or street life. The last time he performed in the province was on July 25, 2012 at the Pirineos Sur Festival before 5,500 people. On this occasion it will be a concert in acoustic format. A “cultural engine” of Monegros The Huesca Provincial Council is still committed to turning the Cartuja into the “cultural engine” of Los Monegros. Since in 2015, urged by citizen groups, it came to the aid of this monastery that was on the Hispania Nostra red heritage list, it has invested more than 2.5 million, including the 921,000 euros destined to restore the more than 2,000 square meters of mural paintings by Fray Manuel Bayeu, Goya’s brother-in-law. Every Saturday and Sunday -or holidays- there are guided tours at 11:00 and 12:30.
