The reason why you will retire later According to Mihál, this is an understandable measure, because our pension system is said to be unsustainable in the long term. “The introduction of the possibility of drawing a pension after 40 years of service and especially the introduction of the so-called parental pension, which Minister Krajniak is promoting, will not contribute to stability. Therefore, raising the retirement age “must” be a cure for all bad measures… many of you will therefore go to pension later,” criticizes Mihál. The proposal will apply to the years 1967 and younger. For example, if you were born in 1966 or earlier, the increase in the retirement age does not apply to you, and you will retire as the current law says – at the age of 64. Principle and calculation in the law Subsequently, Mihál explains the whole principle of the amendment. “For those born in 1967 and younger, the general retirement age will be determined as the general retirement age for people one year younger + the increase in life expectancy,” he says. It is said that it will continue to apply that the retirement age for women (except men) will be reduced by: – ​​6 months if they have raised one child
– 12 months if they raised two children
– 18 months, if they raised three or more children Slightly complicated numbers, five reference periods Mihál points out that these are slightly more complicated and extensive numbers. The period from 2009 to 2020 will be divided into 7 so-called reference periods (2015-2020 period; 2014-2019 period; 2013-2018 period; 2012-2017 period; 2011-2016 period; 2010-2015 period; 2009-2014 period). In each 5-year reference period, the change in life expectancy over the said 5 years is examined. If we take an example from the reference period 2015-2020, then the data on the average life expectancy at the reference age (i.e. at the age of 64) determined by the statistical office in 2020 is taken from it, and the data on the average life expectancy determined in 2015 and the result is divided by 5. Differences are calculated similarly for all reference periods:
2019 – 2014 = (18.540 – 17.726)/5 = 0.163
2018 – 2013 = (18.008 – 17.460)/5 = 0.110
2017 – 2012 = (17.988 – 17.271)/5 = 0.144
2016 – 2011 = (18.027 – 17.167)/5 = 0.172
2015 – 2010 = (17.546 – ​​16.671)/5 = 0.175
