The ninth day of strikes by Iberia Express and Ryanair cabin crew (TCP) has left six flights canceled and 251 delays this Monday, according to the Unión Sindical Obrera (USO), organizer of both protests, together with Sitcpla in the case of the Irish airline. The six cancellations correspond to Iberia Express, which has preemptively canceled three round-trip flights connecting Madrid with Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria and Seville, as reported by USO. However, the company assures that the canceled flights have been between Madrid and Palma de Mallorca, Gran Canaria and Santiago de Compostela. As for the delays, the union records 248 produced in Ryanair and only three, in Tenerife North, Tenerife South and Las Palmas, in the low-cost subsidiary of Iberia, although it recognizes up to six flights with a delay of more than 15 minutes “for operational reasons totally unrelated to the strike.” Iberia Express has also indicated that all customers affected by the cancellations have been relocated to other flights or alternative means of transport. The airline planned to operate 93 flights (94% of those scheduled), of which, until 4:00 p.m., it has operated 58 that have passed “without incidents related to the strike” and with a punctuality of departure of 89, 7%. In the absence of a strike day to end the workers’ protests, the Spanish company has summoned the union sections to the negotiating table this coming Wednesday to seek an agreement between all parties. The airline has indicated that intends to “resume talks with a negotiation calendar and an agreement that satisfies all parties”, and that, in turn, allows it to offer “salary and labor improvements” to its crew. Ryanair, for its part, has not canceled any flight, but has accumulated 248 delays, with Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona-El Prat and Madrid being the most affected, with a total of 44 delayed flights in the case of the first two, and 28 in the Spanish capital. The strike in this airline is called until January 7, 2023, with weekly days from Monday to Thursday.
