Matovič is holding on to his position tooth and nail: We will not allow ourselves to be blackmailed, I will not resign! – New time

The leader of the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) movement, Igor Matovič, said in the Braňo Závodská Live show on Radio Expres that he will definitely not resign from the post of minister. The members of OĽaNO agreed at the weekend team building that they will not allow themselves to be blackmailed. “Today Freedom and Solidarity will topple the third government,” said Matovič. The chairman of OĽaNO said that he had the members of the movement’s parliamentary club vote on whether he should resign. “There were two votes for withdrawal, all the others were against withdrawal,” Matovič admitted. He also added that he would betray the movement if he decided to resign on his own. “Two and a half years ago, we were able to convince people in the elections to give us confidence in the fight against the mafia and corruption. The president of Sloboda a Solidarita (SaS) Richard Sulík is interested in disappointing these people,” said Matovič, who told the leader of the liberals to try harder in the next election. At the same time, the leader of the movement stated in the show that Sulík did not use the veto for the family package, which the OĽaNO leader pushed through. “Based on Sulík’s public promise, we agreed that if we push through the package with the opposition, they will not consider it a violation of the coalition agreement,” he added. According to Matovič, Sulík is blackmailing and buying deputies from the OĽaNO parliamentary club. “Sulík bought Juraj Krúpa to the SaS club for a place on the candidate list. That is corruption,” he added. He is also convinced that the SaS party could fulfill the ten points presented by OĽaNO in order to preserve the coalition. “Then I would recommend myself. It was a test of correctness for SaS. They only care about breaking the government,” added Matovič, who called Sulík an incompetent dilettante. When asked whether Matovič would resign from the position of Minister of Finance and essentially become Minister of Economy, the leader of the movement replied that “President Zuzana Čaputová would not appoint me as any minister. We will not try such games”.
