The new web portal, in turn, allows emergency line operators to better view information transferred from the application. At the same time, it is possible to start an online chat with the caller, through which he can also send photos from the place of the accident or specific injuries.

New portal – new features

“From the new portal it is possible to send an SMS message containing a special link. After opening it, the exact location of the caller is sent to the operations center,” added Maleňák. “Operators can use data from the application mainly for injuries. In many cases, we can navigate people directly in the field thanks to their route, so when getting lost, there is no need for an automatic exit of rescuers.” explained the director of HZS Jozef Janiga. The application, the development of which is supported by Generali insurance company, is available for download via the App Store or Google Play.

The season was probably also affected by the current situation

According to Janig, this year’s season in the Slovak mountains is developing below average. “Compared to 2019, the decrease in interventions is about 20 percent. Compared to last year, it is ten percent, which is a little less of those accidents. What is rather surprising is that the share of accidents among tourists of Slovak nationality has increased, where it is about 80 percent and the number of injuries to visitors from Poland and the Czech Republic, for example, has dropped quite significantly, with 425 hits since the beginning of the year. the number of interventions is 2900 and last year around 2600, “ he added.
