In Chile, the proposal for a new Constitution is massively rejected

Chileans overwhelmingly rejected on Sunday the proposal for a new Constitution which aimed to replace that inherited from the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990), according to partial results relating to the counting of 72% of the ballots. Some 62.2 % of voters said they “rejected” the proposal which intended to introduce new social rights, particularly in education, health or housing, recognize the rights of indigenous peoples or the right to abortion, against 37.8 %, according to the electoral authority.
