Emmy, Obama wins Best Storyteller Award

Former US President Barack Obama won an Emmy for Best Storyteller for his work on the Netflix documentary series, ‘Our Great National Parks’. This was announced by the American Television Academy. The five-part documentary features national parks from around the world and is produced by Barack and Michelle Obama’s production company, ‘Higher Groun’. Barack Obama is the second president to have an Emmy. Dwight D. Eisenhower received a special Emmy Award in 1956. In addition to Obama, other Emmy Award nominees in the storytelling category were former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (‘Black patriots: heroes of the Civil war ‘), Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o (‘ Serengeti II) and veteran naturalist David Attenborough (‘The mating game’). The award ceremony will take place on September 13, but smaller awards are announced in advance.
