Although she said of the German coach that he “did the most things for her that none of the previous coaches did”, she felt that she stagnated under his guidance. The change in the form of the arrival of Leoš Friedl helped her tennis. Today, the world’s 20th player faces the battle for the round of 16 of the Grand Slam US Open with the Swiss Belinda Bencicová. He took it like a good guy “That decision was purely from my side. There was no problem with Saša and I have to say that he behaved towards the entire Supra team even after I told him that I wanted a change. Although there was nothing that would it bothered me, I wanted to do it. I don’t have another five years ahead of me, so I don’t want to stand around unnecessarily,” Plíšková told Czech journalists during the US Open in New York. Photo gallery (3) Source: SITA/AP//Mark J. Terrill Twenty-seven-year-old Bajin was her seventh coach and led Plíšková for over twenty months. He stayed with her the longest after Jiří Vaňek. With his help, the native of Loun reached third place in the world rankings and reached the final of last year’s Wimbledon. Not a single triumph in the whole 2 years. But this year at the All England Club, she did not repeat the success and was eliminated in the 2nd round. In less than two years with Bajin, she did not win a single WTA tournament. “It’s not that I don’t trust Sasha, but I felt that it was a bit stagnant. The results weren’t the best, but that’s not the coach’s fault. I just felt that some things were repeating themselves. For example, losing to the same opponent as (Katie ) Boulterová and simply nothing has changed,” Plíšková said. Despite this, the decision was not easy for the thirty-year-old tennis player, and she still respects Bajina very much. “Over time, these changes get worse. Before, I didn’t think about it that much, while now I didn’t want to. I like Sasha, she’s probably one of the best coaches I’ve had in terms of people. I feel that he did the most things for me out of all the coaches. Nevertheless, I made this decision and it definitely helped my tennis,” said the world’s 22nd player, who consulted her sister and tennis player Kristína and her husband Michal Hrdlička. The new collaboration with Leoš Friedl also helped her , that she could immediately start a new collaboration with Friedl, who also briefly helped her during Bajin’s tenure last year. “I had a plan from him and it was good. I went to train with him a few times this year as well and I liked it. He gives off good energy. If I didn’t have anyone in my head, it would probably be different. The fact that Leoš was there made it faster,” Plíšková described. Photo gallery (3) Source: SITA/AP/Michael Sohn She started a string of overseas matches with Friedl at the beginning of August. She did best in Toronto, where she made it to the semi-finals. “Leoš and I had three weeks of preparation, he was with us in Spain and we made a super block there. I feel quite at peace. I trust him and I think he understands tennis very well. He has a feel for it and is a player. He also experienced me last year and it is not totally unknown between us. I believe it could work,” added the current US Open quarter-finalist. Author: © Zoznam Source: ČTK
