New movies in September (cinema program for September 2022) ✔️ – REFRESHER

After an overview of the streaming premieres in September (Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Apple Tv+…), it’s the cinemas’ turn. After months of drought, attractive films will finally come to the cinemas. We will see films that will try to get Oscar nominations, films packed with acting stars, expected projects of talented directors, and we will also delight fans of horror, action films and history. Three Thousand Years of Longing – 1/9 This is the first film of visionary director George Miller since 2015, when he filled cinema halls with the epic blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road. His novel is again from the sci-fi or fantasy genre, but instead of endless action, the story will also be important in it. It will focus on the love between a genie (Idris Elba) and an ordinary woman (Tilda Swinton). Academic doctor Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is a woman who relies on her mind and facts. That’s why she is shocked when a genie (Idris Elba) emerges from a lamp she bought at the market. In exchange for his freedom, he offers to fulfill any three wishes she makes. Her very first wish surprises not only the genie, but also herself. Not to mention that her wishes may have the exact opposite effect than she imagined. The film received a standing ovation at the most prestigious film festival in Cannes, but reviews from around the world have already pulled it down to mediocre waters. Director George Miller seems to have divided the audience into two groups. Jan Žižka – 8. 9. The story of perhaps the most famous Czech duke takes place at the time when Jan Hus began to preach in the Bethlehem Chapel and the events that eventually led to his burning took place. Žižka was played by Hollywood actor Ben Foster (Hell or High Water, 3:10 to Yuma). One of the supporting roles was played by Michael Caine (The Dark Knight trilogy). In addition to them, actors Matthew Goode (The Watchmen, Imitation Game) and Til Schweiger (Inglorious Basterds) also played. The film will also feature Czech actors such as Karel Roden, Ondřej Vetchý, Marek Vašut, Jan Budař and singer Ben Cristovao. The film will also reach foreign countries under the name Medievil. The trailer shows that the film cost a lot of money. However, a big budget does not automatically guarantee a great historical film. Tickets to Paradise – 9/15 George Clooney and Julia Roberts will play ex-husbands in a romantic family film. They meet on a vacation that their daughter invited them to. She is about to marry someone her parents don’t approve of. So the parents make a short-term truce to prevent her from making the same mistake they once made themselves. Nineteen years ago, after a similar flare-up, they also got married, but after five years they understood that it was not a good idea, so they ended their short adventurous cohabitation with a divorce. Since then, they try to avoid each other as much as possible. They know that every meeting will end in a loud argument. They are very good at setting up elaborate traps to take off their daughter’s rose-colored glasses, but none of them go as planned. But what’s worse, the scenery of the sea paradise begins to awaken memories of the better part of their past together. Even if they defend their feelings, they are in danger of falling in love with each other again. Don’t Worry Darling – 22/09 Olivia Wilde made a name for herself as a director in Hollywood after her excellent debut Booksmart. We ranked the film among the best films of 2019. While Booksmart was a breath of fresh air in the teen comedy genre, Don’t Worry Darling is a much more ambitious film. It is a thriller whose plot hides many secrets. Director Olivia Wilde had a much bigger budget and more well-known actors at her disposal. In her new film, we will see Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chen and the director and screenwriter of the film Olivia Wilde herself. The plot will focus on a typical wife (Florence Pugh) taking care of the household. The story will take place in the 1950s in the Californian desert in an isolated community. There, the main character gradually gets to the shocking truth about his own life. From the trailers, it looks like it will reveal some sort of cult or other group that controls women. Murder in a Theater/See How They Run – 9/22 In London’s West End in the 1950s, producers have to stop filming a movie version of a hit theater after someone kills a Hollywood director (Adrien Brody). When a jaded Inspector Stoppard (Sam Rockwell) and a keen police rookie Stalker (Saoirse Ronan) take on the case, they are faced with a case full of mysteries in an unusual theater. It is the feature directorial debut of BAFTA award winner Tom George (This Country), written by Mark Chappell (The Young Doctor’s Notebook, Flaked). In the film, we will see a stellar cast consisting of Oscar winner Sam Rockwell (Jojo Rabbit, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing), Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan (The French Expedition, Little Women) and Oscar winner Adrien Brody (The Pianist). The detective drama feels like a fun and fresh movie with a mysterious crime plot and likable characters. Triangle of Sadness – 29. 9. What does it look like when a couple of models find themselves on a luxury ship with rich people and their vessel crashes? This question is answered by the dramedy Triangle of Sadness, which received a standing ovation at the famous Cannes festival and won the Palme d’Or award. The audience will get to know a wide range of characters. From a Russian oligarch selling excrement, through his own crew with an alcoholic captain (Woody Harrelson), to a cleaning lady who, despite her lower qualifications, will be very useful after the shipwreck – she is the only one who can fish. The 48-year-old Swedish creator Ruben Östlund took care of the direction and script. His previous film The Square won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and was also nominated for an Oscar. The sad thing about this satire is that Charlbi Dean, the 32-year-old actress from the film, died unexpectedly just a few days ago. Úsmev/Smile – 29 September Doctor Rose Cotterová (Sosie Bacon) receives a patient who sees people around her constantly smiling. After a short therapeutic conversation, the girl commits suicide in front of the doctor. Cotter is shaken by this terrifying experience, but soon discovers that she is in danger. She, too, began to observe people with scary smiles in her surroundings. Smile looks like one of the better B-horror films that fill cinema halls every year. Fans of the horror genre will probably not find anything better in cinemas until Halloween. Where the Crawdads Sing/Where the Crawdads Sing – 29/09. Based on the book, based on which this film was made in Hollywood, it captures a little girl named Kya who lives in the swamps of North Carolina in the 1950s and 1960s. Kya has four siblings and an abusive father. One day their mother leaves them and 5 children are suddenly dependent on their father, an aggressive alcoholic. One by one, the children leave home, and in the end, only Kya remains with her father. She has to learn to live without the help of anyone else, but she lacks basic education. The book is very emotional at times. Part of the plot is a celebration of nature and the swamps in which Kya lives, but the novel also focuses on romance and, quite unexpectedly, a mysterious murder. It has a very strong and engaging ending. In the film adaptation of the famous book, mostly unknown actors played, and foreign reviews are not very positive. In addition, the old Jaws (1975) and Avatar (2009) are returning to cinemas. It’s probably the last time we’ll be able to say that we’ll see films from directors Steven Spielberg and James Cameron in the same month. If you are looking for something to take your children or younger siblings to the cinema with, we will probably disappoint you. The distribution companies are not planning any big animated premieres in September, so you can go to the animes from August. The only exception is the anime Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. In September, new feature-length projects by Tomáš Svoboda called The Indian and Svetlonoc by Tereza Nvotová (Spina from 2017) will also be released. Report an error.
