Instagram changes its algorithm to enhance personalization – Contact Center

Whenever Instagram decides to change its algorithm, controversy arises around the social network due to the alterations that occur when it comes to displaying content. However, the company’s goal is to offer users a more personalized experience. Instagram has been making changes and tests in its algorithm for months so that users see content that is closer to their interests. “We are testing the ability to mark multiple posts in the Explore section as ‘not interested.’ We will immediately hide these posts and refrain from showing you similar content in the future,” the company said in a statement. In this way, the user will have the ability to let Instagram know that they do not want to see certain suggested posts with certain keywords in the caption or hashtags. All this change in the algorithm by Instagram is to give the user the opportunity to “tell” Instagram what type of posts they prefer to see. The suggested content will contain certain words, phrases or emojis that will let the application know if the publication is to the user’s liking. For this reason, in the “Explore” section, the algorithm will always show you content that is of interest to you. This follows the line defined by social media trends in 2022. Instagram bets on a more personalized experience with the new algorithm One of the big changes that occurred in the social network was that not all people’s posts appeared in our feed that we follow, in addition to the fact that they are not positioned chronologically. Apart from the suggestions, they show us those publications with which we are more likely to interact. “We prioritize posts that we think you’re most likely to enjoy, but we understand that we may not always get it right,” Instagram explains on its blog. This causes a situation that makes it necessary to know the reasons for providing customer support for Instagram. This dynamic has been furthered with options that offer the option to select an account in “favorites”, which will cause posts from these profiles to appear at the top of the feed and more frequently. In addition, the possibility of “only showing favorites” means that we only get content from that account. On the other hand, Instagram has added the option “Why do you see this publication” so that you can find out about the reasons why that content appears at a specific height in the feed. Regarding the new Instagram functionalities that come with the algorithm change, the following stand out: «Not interested»: gives the opportunity to click on the option «I am not interested» in the three points that appear in the upper right part of a post. The algorithm will take it into account to show you future posts. Postpone Suggested Post: Suggested content can be postponed for up to 30 days if it overwhelms us. Sensitive content adjustment: allows you to hide certain types of content that you do not want to appear in the feed. Source: Direct Marketing Article Images: Gabrielle Henderson, Unsplash
