NASA plans to launch Artemis I on Saturday – Xinhua

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) plans to launch the Artemis I lunar mission from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday, after the first attempt was canceled on Monday due to an engine problem. The new launch time will be 2:17 p.m. ET (6:17 p.m. GMT) on Saturday, September 3. Monday’s first launch attempt was called off because launch controllers were unable to cool all four RS-25 engines because one engine was running hotter than the others, according to NASA. Teams are currently analyzing the data, updating procedures and reviewing equipment to address any issues, NASA said. The Artemis I flight test is an unmanned mission around the Moon that will pave the way for future manned flights and future human lunar exploration as part of NASA’s Artemis lunar program.
