NASA has this idea to destroy the International Space Station

NASA wants to use a cosmic wrecking machine to destroy the International Space Station (ISS) without causing damage to the Earth’s surface. This space agency has published the document ‘Capacity to deorbit the International Space Station’ where they request ideas and projects to carry out this devastating task, in addition, they make a list of the requirements to be met. Some companies such as SpaceX, Blue Origin, Boeing and Lockheed Martin will be able to submit their proposals based on a series of questions about the design of the space vehicle. NASA’s goal is for the spacecraft to connect to the front port of the International Space Station’s ‘Node 2’ a year before the destruction is executed. The station will make a controlled descent to an altitude of 220 kilometers thanks to chemical propellants and the friction of the Earth’s atmosphere. When it reaches 220 kilometers, the shooter will activate its rockets to put the ISS into an elliptical orbit with diameters 145 by 200 kilometers. Afterward, the spacecraft will fire its thrusters to reduce perigee by 50 kilometers, and from there, the atmosphere will disintegrate the International Space Station and the spacecraft over the Pacific Ocean without endangering anyone. The ship must be in orbit twelve months before the year 2031, the date on which we will say goodbye to the ISS. The deadline for proposals will close on September 9, and since then, NASA will begin a selection process to create the final design. On the other hand, the space agency will want to use the ship for future orbital operations, in this way, it would serve to transport objects in orbit safely.
