The staircase collapsed on Tuesday (August 23) in an apartment building on Mlynská Street in Michalovce. In connection with this, a state of emergency was declared in the city in the evening and a crisis team met. today 9:47 a.m. The municipal office reported on Wednesday that there was no loss of life or health. After the collapse of the staircase, emergency services intervened on the spot. The crisis team has already met twice with the participation of the representative of the Slovak government for Roma communities, Ján Hero, and his colleagues. “The staff has taken all the necessary measures that this situation requires. The city of Michalovce is helping in this situation, despite the fact that it does not have a lease agreement with the residents of the aforementioned apartment building,” Mária Stričková, head of the department of communication, marketing and culture, said for the city hall. Already on Tuesday in the evening hours, according to the office, they provided necessary necessities for approximately 120 residents of the apartment building, including a temporary overnight stay at the local school. “We are continuing this activity and, of course, we are monitoring the situation,” Stričková added.
