Return of the Taliban: a turning point in the world order? – LCI

The scene looks surreal. Ready to take off, this military plane is besieged by a crowd of Afghans, and it has been like this since this morning. These amateur videos bear witness to the chaos that reigns at Kabul airport. Some cling to catwalks and stairs. On satellite images, we can see the crowds on the airstrips. Many try to flee the country, others rebel against the departure of military forces.

The Taliban control the roads, the places of power. They even appear on public television, but have yet to take the airport. The Italians could therefore be evacuated urgently. But on the French side, dozens of nationals are still waiting. A military jumbo that left Orleans this morning has arrived in Abu Dhabi, but it is stranded for the moment. All flights are suspended tonight in Kabul for security reasons. Entrenched at the airport, too, the French ambassador will have to manage the evacuations according to the instructions given by the President of the Republic, including for the Afghans who worked for France.
