UPDATED 14:36 O HLASY The Slovaks thus defended the silver from the European Championship 2021 in Poznań. In the final, they started in the eighth lane and after the initial 250, they were in sixth place. However, in the second part of the track, they stepped up their pace and thanks to a great finish, they worked their way up to the silver section. They narrowly defeated the bronze-winning French and left behind the Ukrainians, who were hot candidates for medals. Zalka appreciates that the Slovak team was able to step up its performance in Munich. “The first run was not the most ideal, the semi-final was already better and the final really worked out for us. Millimeters, small details were decisive and we also had the necessary sporting luck. It’s great that we ended this season with a medal. If we hadn’t won it, it would have been very we would miss her,” Zalka told TASR. Botek was also very happy with the gain of the precious metal “It didn’t look the best, because after an unsuccessful start we had to go to the semi-finals today. However, we managed to recover well. In the final, the finish was very important. At the end of the race, there were waves and we got a little lost. If we struggled even more, it probably wouldn’t have resulted in silver, because the differences were very small, but luckily it turned out well. The medal is warm, it’s very nice. Now I’ll try to concentrate as much as possible on Sunday’s K2 500m final, which I’ll complete together with Erik Vlček,” said the “back” of the Slovak ship. Final K4 at 500 m: 1.
