Nothing stops him. Caroline Garcia qualified for the semi-finals of the WTA 1000 Cincinnati tournament by beating Jessica Pegula (6-1, 7-5) on Friday August 19. A major performance for the Frenchwoman, against the 8th player in the world. “I played a very good match, I remained very aggressive from start to finish,” savored the No. 35 in the WTA rankings at a press conference, after her victory in 1h13. Garcia, already titled twice this year, will face Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-finals on Saturday. The other meeting will oppose Madison Keys to Petra Kvitova. A final victory would give her a third WTA 1000, after her Asian tour crowned with two successes in 2017. Proof of her new form, Caroline Garcia had not reached the last four at this level for four years. The Frenchwoman remains in line with an idyllic month of July, which saw her beat Iga Swiatek and win a title in Warsaw. Not insignificant, ten days before a US Open that she could play with the status of seeded.
