The Polish prime minister defended her Finnish colleague: She said she had a good reason to celebrate – Novy Čas

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin had a good reason to go out into society and celebrate because her country is joining NATO, her Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki said on Friday. In doing so, he supported Marin’s right to have fun at the party and responded to the criticism the Finnish prime minister has faced in her homeland after videos of the fateful night leaked to the public. Information about it was brought by the news agency Reuters. Marinová announced on Friday that she passed a drug test. She was called out by critics after the release of a video of her having fun at a party with friends. The Prime Minister has emphatically stated that she has never used illegal drugs, adding that the Saturday night in question did not impair her ability to carry out her official duties. “The prime minister has a reason to be happy because Finland is joining NATO,” Polish Prime Minister Morawiecki said at a press conference when asked about the mentioned videos. “So if the Prime Minister of Finland drank a little more Finlandia (vodka) on this occasion and therefore danced, there is nothing terrible about it,” added Morawiecki. Videos of 36-year-old Marin having fun with famous Finnish celebrities – influencers and artists – started circulating on social networks this week. Later, they were also published by the media in Finland and abroad. Thirty member countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization last month signed the accession protocols of Sweden and Finland – this will allow the two Nordic countries to join the alliance armed with nuclear weapons, once the decision is ratified by all NATO members. Poland is one of the strong supporters of Finland’s membership in NATO.
