Foyth, Meunier and Bellerin: three full-backs for one position – Marca

Barcelona enters the final stretch to sign a right back. There are three main candidates, Foyth, Meunier and Bellern, and each one has its special characteristics. The name of Juan Foyth has come out strongly in the media because the player’s agent was negotiating with Barcelona this week. It is, however, an option that has its drawbacks. One of them is the price of the footballer. Villarreal has referred to the 42 million of its termination clause, an amount that in no case will the Barça club pay. We will have to negotiate and it will not be easy. Another of the problems that he presents is that he is not a born winger, he is a reconverted central defender and that profile is already covered with players like Araujo or Kound. Foyth, in a match with Villarreal. / CARME RIPOLLS Thomas Meunier The second option would be Thomas Meunier. The Dortmund defender was already in the orbit in the last winter market. So there was no agreement because Barcelona had been reinforced with Dani Alves and put all their efforts into bringing forwards. Meunier s is a born winger, a regular starter with the Belgian national team and with a more affordable price than Foyth since he will arrive for an amount between 10 and 15 million. He is a very interesting player and highly valued by the club’s Sports Department. Although he is yet to enter into negotiations, he could become a more interesting footballer. Mateu Alemany called the player’s representative a few days ago to find out what the player’s situation was and his availability to play for Barcelona, although it is not the first option because Foyth and Meunier are ahead of him. Bellern’s advantage is which is by far the cheapest of the three. The player will be able to leave for free without paying anything for the transfer since Arsenal is looking for a way out for him. In addition, his record would be very affordable for Barcelona. The winger currently earns four million net, but he would be willing to lower the record without any problem, as Barcelona already knows. The talks are very advanced with the player and with Chelsea, but they still cannot be closed until the departures of Aubameyang and Memphis are resolved. But at the club they are optimistic and except for a great surprise, Marcos Alonso will wear Barça at the end.
