The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, announced this Friday that at the beginning of September the Government will present its proposal to the social agents on the calculation period for calculating the retirement pension. In an interview on the program Al Rojo Vivo on La Sexta, Escrivá stressed that this new approach is based on what the Toledo Pact recommended and its objective is to reflect “the new realities in the labor market” that did not exist 20 years ago. years. Regarding the revaluation of pensions with the CPI, he has said that “absolutely” it is going to be carried out, since it is a commitment and a law that was approved in Parliament, and he has pointed out that there is much talk about expenses but not income, which has grown considerably thanks to the “great dynamism of the labor market”. In this sense, Escrivá has given two data, that those Social Security revenues grew by 8.5% in the month of July and that the Social Security deficit forecast for the end of the year is 0.5% of GDP . Escrivá has also been asked about the Social Security forecast that the number of affiliates during the month of August will be reduced by some 187,000 people, and he has said about it that it is “a very good figure”, taking into account that the average reduction in the period 1997-2019 “was more than 200,000”.
