The Bejís fire “evolves favourably”, but has already destroyed a 135-kilometer perimeter of forest mass – Eldiario.es

Hopeful news, although within prudence, in relation to the evolution of the Bejís fire. The President of the Valencian Government, Ximo Puig, has appeared this Friday after the meeting of the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (Cecopi) held at 8:15 p.m. and has assured that the fire “evolves favorably”. However, Puig has affirmed that they have to maintain caution since the Andilla and Toro hotspots are still active, where efforts are currently focused, and that there is a risk of outbreaks due to the enormous extension of the fire, whose burned surface reaches the 20,000 hectares affects a perimeter of 135 kilometers, which is the largest loss of the last decade in the Valencian Community. The good news is that for the moment the advance towards Sierra Calderona has stopped. Puig has assured that “throughout the night 500 troops will continue to work on the extinction work and that this Saturday 42 aerial means will participate, the same as this Friday.” The head of the Consell has commented that although tonight the forecast is for temperatures to drop, which will help in the evolution of the fire, a new increase is planned for this Saturday that will again harm the tasks. Regarding the possibility that the evacuated neighbors may return to their homes, Puig has commented that at the meeting this Saturday morning decisions will begin to be made in this regard: “It could be authorized in a staggered manner in those municipalities in which there is no type of risk and in which a minimum communications service and supplies are guaranteed, such as water, electricity and gas, something that the technicians are already checking”. As for the Vall d’Ebo fire, Puig has commented that it remains stabilized and that work is being carried out to advance in its definitive extinction, but with caution as there is always a danger of outbreaks.
