Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said on Thursday that she has no problem taking a drug test. She was called upon to do so after the publication of a video of the 36-year-old politician having fun at a party, which drew criticism. The news agency AFP brought the information. The video, which went viral on social media and Finnish media, captures Marin dancing with a group of people. LEAKED: Videos of Finland’s socialist Prime Minister partying have surfaced. A passionate debate has developed on social networks. The Prime Minister rejected such an explanation. “I have nothing to hide. I don’t use drugs, and that’s why I have no problem taking the tests,” Marinová told journalists on Thursday. She added that she was “having an evening with friends” and that the videos were “filmed in private spaces”. Some people consider Marin’s dancing in the video inappropriate behavior for the prime minister, while others deny her right to enjoy a private event with friends. MP Mikko Kärnä and a member of the Center Party, which is part of Marin’s coalition government, tweeted that it would be “wise” for the leader to “voluntarily take a drug test”. The prime minister told the media that alcohol was consumed at the party, but she denied that any partygoers were using drugs. Marinová has the support of her Social Democratic Party (SDP), declared the head of the party’s parliamentary club, Antti Lindtman. He told the media that he “sees no big problem with dancing at a private event with friends”. Marinová herself must decide whether she will take a drug test, he added. As a 34-year-old, Marinová became prime minister in 2019 and since then has organized parties in the official residence several times. In December 2021, she faced intense criticism for attending a dance party until the early hours of the morning, even though she knew she had been exposed to the contagious disease covid-19. A public opinion poll for Finnish television MTV3 at the time showed that two-thirds of respondents considered Marin’s night out to be a “serious mistake”.
