Official: Casemiro leaves Real Madrid and signs for Manchester United

Casemiro is already a Manchester United player. This was announced by Real Madrid tonight in a statement, after both teams reached an agreement for the transfer of the midfielder for more than 70 million euros. The white club has agreed to the player’s request, who after ten years in the locker room felt that he needed a new challenge. The Brazilian has signed a contract until 2026 with the option of one more season and will receive almost double the salary he had at Real Madrid. The Casemiro soap opera has been faster than expected. Just a few days have passed since United’s interest in acquiring his services and the closing of the operation arose. Real Madrid is left without one of its benchmarks in the midfield of the last decade. The defensive bastion that, together with Kroos and Modric, has marked an era in the club. He marches that it hurts, but that he understands himself and that he has smoothed out as much as possible. The whites did not want to part with him, as the club understood that it is still early for Tchouaméni to assume the stripes of such a complicated position, but circumstances have invited him to accept the exit. Above all, because of the interest of the player, who in addition to having the chance to play in the Premier, a personal dream, saw how his income increased in the last stretch of his career. For Madrid, the business, at least economically, is round. He signed Casemiro in 2012 for six million euros and sold him ten years later for more than 70. Between the two operations, a decade of success that has led the Brazilian to win 18 titles, including five European Cups and three leagues. As Ancelotti pointed out at a press conference, the current wicker of the dressing room is enough to face the season, since he understands that both Tchouaméni and Kroos can act in that position and that Modric, Valverde, Camavinga and Ceballos have enough quality to accompany them. Beyond his value in midfield, Casemiro has been a benchmark in the locker room for new generations. A leader on and off the pitch. Perhaps that is the great loss of Madrid, which in sports has the position covered, but is left without a piece of the heart of the locker room.
