The government crisis must be resolved so that the stalemate does not continue, says the president – Topky.sk

“If the announced steps on resignation are fulfilled, then the role of the president is completely clear, since he appoints members of the government on the proposal of the prime minister,” said Čaputová. She added that she is in contact with individual representatives of institutions and the government. In connection with the situation, she appeals for a solution to the government crisis and drew attention to the approaching difficult times and highlighted the need for a stable and functional government. It intensified after the parliament overrode the president’s veto during the so-called anti-inflation package from the workshop of the Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO). SaS and OĽANO were subsequently accused of collaborating with fascists and lying. SaS has terminated the coalition agreement and demands the departure of Matovič from the government. OĽANO refuses. Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO) announced that he would propose a change to the coalition agreement to the partners. He hopes SaS will take a step back. Non-parliamentary parties call on the government to resign if it does not intend to solve people’s problems Several non-parliamentary parties have called on Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO) to have a vote of confidence in the government in connection with the coalition crisis in the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic. They point to the situation in the field of energy, healthcare and others. The Good Choice and Moderate Party pointed out that if the government is not willing to solve people’s problems, it should leave. In this context, the non-parliamentary SNS also called for the resignation of the prime minister. “Yesterday’s negotiations between Igor Matovič (OĽANO) and Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský (OĽANO nominee) on raising the salaries of health workers showed that the government is run by Igor Matovič,” SNS stated. The chairman of the party, Andrej Danko, pointed out the deepening energy crisis and its consequences, reproaching the prime minister for his silence even when closing Slovak factories. “The departure of the coalition partner SaS only confirms to us that this coalition is ending. We call on the Prime Minister to resign without delay for not managing the situation in the energy sector, healthcare, but also in many other areas,” declared SNS. The party noted that the solution cannot be found in the statuses of the OĽANO leader on social networks. She emphasized that Slovakia needs a constructive and professional policy, not an amateur circus. “If the government is not willing to solve the problems, it should be talked into oblivion,” concluded Drucker. The extra-parliamentary Hlas-SD called on the prime minister on Wednesday (August 17) to appear in front of the parliament and give a vote of confidence in the government. According to the party, the Minister of Finance presented another part of the arguments with the SaS. Party leader and unaffiliated MP Peter Pellegrini sees early elections as the only solution, as do other non-parliamentary parties. OĽANO responded that the way it copes with the coalition crisis will not depend on the views of Hlasu-SD. He claims that he does not speculate, he works and delivers results to people.
