Updated 18:55 19/8/2022, 16:40 Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO) presented a proposal to increase the salaries of doctors in institutional health facilities. For doctors without certification, the minimum wage coefficient should be increased from 1.25 to 1.4 times the average wage. For certified doctors, the coefficient should remain the same, namely 2.3 times the average salary. For both, salaries should also depend on years of service. The average salary of a doctor in institutional health care will reach 4,000 euros gross. The coefficient should be increased for doctors with and without certification by 0.01 times the average salary for each year of work, and would increase for the first 20 years of work. The head of the finance department also pointed to the salary machine, according to which the salaries of all health workers should be increased by 6.88 percent next year. “The average salary of a doctor in institutional health care reaches 4,000 euros gross,” he said. Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský (OĽANO nominee) noted that, in addition to salary increases, they will also deal with other demands of medical trade unionists. “Not all the steps that need to be taken can be done in one go. Many things are currently being worked on. I can promise for myself and the Ministry of Health that we will take those steps as quickly as possible,” he added. Peter Visolajský, head of the Medical Trade Union Association (LOZ), stated this after negotiations at the Government Office of the Slovak Republic. “I want to call on all doctors in Slovak hospitals to join the pressure on the government by resigning, because we have no other way,” he said. According to him, approximately 3,500 doctors declared their willingness to resign. Visolajský pointed out that the government has still not presented solutions to some of the demands of medical unions. He pointed out that the negotiations last ten months. The head of the LOZ also reacted to the proposal to increase the salaries of doctors, which was presented on Friday by the Minister of Health Vladimír Lengvarský (OĽANO nominee) and the Minister of Finance Igor Matovič (OĽANO). According to him, the salary increase alone will not solve the problem. He pointed out, for example, the need to establish order in the financing of hospitals or the introduction of the DRG system. Matovič also presented a proposal to increase the salaries of paramedics. The minimum wage coefficient for them should be increased from 1.05 to 1.08 times the average wage. Their salaries should also depend on years of service.
