Covid, New Zealand in lockdown for a case

New Zealand returns to lockdown after a locally transmitted case of Covid 19 was detected for the first time in six months. This was announced by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, according to which starting today and for at least three days the country will be in lockdown, with all schools and non-essential activities closed. “While we can’t confirm this yet, we have to assume it’s a Delta variant case,” Ardern said, in a reference to the case recorded in Auckland, the first since February 28. New Zealand, with a population of around 5 million, has reported 2,570 cases and 26 deaths.
