The shootings took place in the middle of the street at the end of the afternoon. On Tuesday August 17, 2021, bikers from the national police made use of their service weapons in the street in Rosny-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis). The police were trying to intercept a fleeing vehicle from Val-de-Marne.

The runaway driver

The crazy chase has started in Nogent-sur-Marne in Val-de-Marne. According to the municipality, the police tried to end the car chase when it arrived at the intersection of avenue Jean Jaurès and General Leclerc at the pedestrian exit of the station.

While the driver hits a motorcycle, the police open fire and shoot several times. On a video posted on social networks, the two bikers aim at a Mercedes class A car. The latter engages a reverse gear and flees. “Faced with the driver’s attempted forcible passage, police officers were forced to open fire on rue Jean Jaurès,” announced Mayor Jean-Paul Fauconnet.

In Nogent, refusal to comply with a vehicle which flees towards Rosny, taken in charge by the police. The vehicle turned around and struck the motorcycle of one of the police officers, which fell to the ground.

The vehicle was found abandoned shortly after the incident. According to a police source, a man also presented himself injured at the hospital some time after the facts. “We do not know for the moment if it is the driver of the vehicle”, she specifies to News Seine-Saint-Denis. Two police officers were also slightly injured.

Three wounded

While the video taken from inside a stationary bus shows the panic of the passengers in the face of the shootings, the municipality of Rosny-sous-Bois specifies to News Seine-Saint-Denis that no injuries are to be deplored among the passers-by. “There is no longer any immediate danger on the spot,” she assures us.

At 6.30 p.m., traffic was still blocked on Avenue Jean Jaurès pending the arrival of the technical and scientific police.
