Many stormy rains on the Normandy coast “On the Normandy coast, less mobile storms will locally give strong accumulations of rain”, indicates Météo France. This orange vigilance is valid until Thursday August 18, 2022 at 6 a.m. The rest of France remains concerned by yellow vigilance. In the Mediterranean departments, “a temporary lull occurs this morning”, indicates Météo France. “These storms are locally violent with strong rainfall intensities, locally reaching 80 mm in a short time, with hail, and strong gusts of wind of around 80 to 100 km/h. Eddy phenomena are also possible in coastal areas. Bouches-du-Rhône is the most exposed department, with storms that can be long-lasting and not very mobile, ”continues the forecasting organization. The Old Port of Marseille was flooded on the night of Tuesday August 16 to Wednesday August 17. “At the end of the afternoon, the storms finally evacuate towards the east of the region, losing their activity”, forecasts Météo France. On the Normandy coast, “this afternoon, stormy rains will be frequent, they can locally give up to 40 to 60 mm in a very short time”. chevron_leftchevron_right
