The fires are fed in the Valencian Community – RTVE

Forest fires are raging in the Valencian Community, in Bejís (Castellón) and in Vall d’Ebo (Alicante), where they are still very active and the situation has become more virulent in recent hours. The flames have forced the preventive eviction of the municipality of Sacañet, and a firefighter has been injured during the extinction work in Castellón. Meanwhile, in Alicante, the flames have already burned 11,500 hectares, although during the night there have been no new evictions or damage to homes. The most serious situation since last night is recorded in Bejís, where a nature protection agent displaced from Aragón has been injured and last afternoon another ten people were injured, four of them with burns, three of them serious, when they decided to flee the train they were traveling to Zaragoza, when they were surprised by the proximity of the flames. As explained by the Government delegate, Pilar Bernabé, the accident occurred when the train driver saw ash falling and decided to return with the train in the direction of origin. In this return maneuver, a group of travelers decided to open the doors and exited the train, and was hit by the flames at some point near Torás. Some of the travelers who left the train returned to it and others traveled on foot to Caudiel, where they were picked up. The Castellón fire has two more virulent locations, in the Ragudo area and in Sacañet, a municipality that has been preventively evacuated shortly after two o’clock last morning due to a change in wind direction. The evacuation of this municipality is added to those of three other towns: Bejís, Torás and Teresa. In this way, 80 people have moved from affected areas to the town of Alcublas, where the Red Cross has installed a temporary shelter in the sports center, although most are people who were in their second homes and have returned home, for what few need shelter. First thing this morning, nine aerial means of the Generalitat have joined the work of extinguishing this fire that began on Monday, and more means have been requested from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and other autonomous communities. The fire in Vall d’Ebo is still active and devastates 11,500 hectaresWhile, in Alicante, according to the Generalitat’s Emergency Coordination Center, the fire declared in Vall d’Ebo, which started on Saturday, continues to be active on all fronts, although due to the increase in humidity it progresses more slowly and a more favorable evolution is expected throughout the morning of this Wednesday. 30 crews of firefighters from the Diputación de Alicante are currently working on the extinction of this fire. 13 units of the forest firefighters and 4 Reinforcement Brigades of the Valencia Firefighters, and at dawn the aerial means have been incorporated (10 from the Generalitat, 5 from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and others from Murcia, Castilla La Mancha and the UME) .The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, has chaired this morning the meeting of the Center for Integrated Operational Coordination (CECOPI), to analyze the forest fires that affect the Community Valenciana.Puig, interviewed on RNE’s Las Mañanas, stated that the forecast for these early hours of the morning “is not positive because conditions continue to be unfavorable” and that they expect it to change around noon.
