The decline in fuel prices was accentuated last week with unleaded 95-E10 on average at 1.74 euros per liter and diesel at 1.79 euros per litre. The latter is back to its February level. Fuel prices continued to fall last week in France. Diesel sold on average 1.79 euros per liter, a drop of 4.9 cents compared to the previous week, and gasoline (SP95-E10) at 1.736 euros per liter, down 5.8 cents, according to the weekly statement from the Ministry of Ecological Transition (prices fixed on Friday August 12) published on Tuesday. This is the eighth consecutive week of decline for diesel (which averaged 2.1345 euros per liter on June 17), the ninth for petrol (with an SP 95-E10 at 2,096 euros per liter on June 10). the year for diesel, which stood at 1.74 euros per liter at the end of February. For gasoline, you have to go back to mid-April to find an average price lower than the current price. Since April 1, a discount of 18 cents has applied to fuel prices. The price of diesel at the end of February therefore does not take this into account. If we withdraw this government rebate, the current price of diesel measured last week would be 1.97 euros, a price that was found in mid-March in French stations. Fall in oil prices Main explanation for this decline in fuel prices : lower oil prices. Last week, the barrel of Brent from the North Sea fell by 0.9 dollars, to 103.9 dollars per barrel. The decline was further accentuated at the start of the week, with a barrel below 95 dollars on Tuesday, August 16. The government rebate will drop to 30 cents from September, with an expected rise in oil prices. This discount will drop to 10 cents in November and December.
