The mayor of Íllora asks for “calm” after the homes of the suspects in the death of a young man from the town were attacked

The mayor of Íllora, Antonio Salazar, has asked the residents of the municipality to “calm down” so that the images of this Monday are not repeated. Different groups went at night to the homes of those suspected of the violent death of a 19-year-old boy and caused damage and overturned cars. The councilor has indicated in statements to Europa Press that the Granada town has spent the night in peace although in “tense calm”, waiting for the funeral of Juan Trujillos Castro to take place this Tuesday, scheduled for late afternoon. The City Council also collects signatures so that events such as those that ended the life of this boy do not happen again and will appear as a private prosecution in the case. The event took place at the town’s festivities, of about 10,000 inhabitants, during a massive fight. Salazar explained that the Civil Guard maintains a special security device for possible altercations. Last night there were “very angry neighbors, with a lot of rage”, who, after a rejection rally in front of the Consistory, went to the houses of the relatives of the suspects, who have not been in the municipality since Monday morning. The mayor has pointed out that the majority of those attending the rally were “totally calm, simply asking for justice, and that this should not happen again, and that these people go to court as soon as possible and the full weight of the law falls on them “. The local corporation has decreed three days of official mourning and has suspended the patron saint festivities. On Tuesday morning there are still no arrests, although there are two identified suspects. The Civil Guard has communicated to the rest of the security forces the identity and the data it has of these people “in search and capture”. At the same time Salazar does not know if there are complaints about the damage to the homes of relatives, some of which the neighbors entered. Other sources consulted in the municipality have specified that the neighbors want the members of this clan “out of town”, who are not from Íllora, although they “settled down” some time ago in the town, which he would have “frightened.”
