Slovak actress Eva Rysová, who acted in several theater productions, several series and over a hundred films, is celebrating her 90th birthday today. On the TV screen as at home Eva Rysová was born on August 16, 1932 in the village of Hajnáčka located in the district of Rimavská Sobota. She attended the gymnasium in Lučenec and was part of the local theater troupe. Despite the fact that she originally planned to become an architect, she finally decided on acting. Shortly after graduating, she worked in the SNP Army Theater in Martin (today the Slovak Chamber Theatre). . Her first role was Hanka in the production Patient 113. Between 1960 and 1965 she played in the Regional Theater in Trnava and the Regional Theater in Nitra. Since 1966, she has been a member of the Nová scéna theater. On stage, she portrayed, for example, Queen Eleonora in the production of King John (1995), Aunt Mimi in the musical The Beatles (2000), Madame Renaud in The Cage of Fools (2002), Mother in the production of Eight Women (2003) or Evelyn Medard in The Hospital on the Edge… (2004). During the decades of work in the theater, she created a wide range of characters of diverse genres. She applied herself to comedies, but her acting was dominated by large classic characters. In 1963, she first appeared on the television screen, specifically in the film Adventure with Vaterland. Later, she acted in films such as Matka (1967), The Case of the Beautiful Slut (1973), This Summer at Home (1980), Who Wants to Win a Princess (1984), In a City Full of Umbrellas (1989) and Suzanne (1996). During her career, she acted in more than 100 television films. During the filming of Stormy Wine, in which she played the ironic Anna Roznerová, she was the oldest participant in the filming. Rysová was also engaged in teaching activities and until 2012 taught artistic performance and stage speech at the Church Conservatory in Bratislava. She was also engaged in dubbing and radio. You could hear her voice in various radio dramas, in audio versions of fairy tales for children or in the Mexican telenovela Poľad žena. She married pediatrician Alojz Suchánek, whom she met thanks to the production Večne mladá história. They have a son Michal together, who lives with his family in Canada. Eva Rysová’s grandson, also named Michal, inherited her acting talent. Already at the age of twelve, he acted in several commercials that were broadcast in the USA and Canada. He was nominated for an Emmy for this role. He later starred in Aftershock: Earthquake in New York, which earned him a Young Artist Award nomination. In addition to him, Jennifer Garnerová, Erika Eleniaková and Tom Skeritt acted in the film. He finally won the aforementioned award a year later for the series Na pomedzí razhad. Michal Suchánek also appeared in the films Intruders vs. Predator 2 and Andromeda Tribe. Currently, he is no longer engaged in acting and works in the field of management and computer technology.
