Published on 08/12/22, updated on 08/15/22 at 7:10 p.m. After the heat wave, this week, thunderstorms will punctuate the weather news. They will occur in waves, crossing all of France. Good news for those of you who fear the heat, it will only be a bad memory. For holidaymakers, on the other hand, the introduction of unstable weather is less encouraging. Finally, watch out for thunderstorms, as they may cause occasional violent phenomena. France is at the heart of a conflict between air masses, between very warm air rising from Tunisia to Germany, while cooler air from the Atlantic is gradually settling over our country. This context is conducive to the outbreak of storms. These rains and stormy showers are nevertheless good news and will slow down the current drought a little. A week marked by thunderstorms On Tuesday, a new wave of rain and storms set in from the west under the effect of an Atlantic depression. In the east, the weather will be temporarily calm and again very warm, before the return of thunderstorms the following night. On Wednesday, France will be under low pressure influence with rain, showers and thunderstorms over the whole territory. The storms promise to be violent from time to time from the southwest to the eastern borders as far as Languedoc, Roussillon and PACA where a Mediterranean episode will occur. In Corsica, a blow of Sirocco is envisaged with temperatures close to 40°C in the afternoon. On Thursday, rains and thunderstorms will linger in eastern France, as far east as the Pyrenees. In the west and north, the weather will be variable with some showers along the Channel. In Languedoc-Roussillon, after a hesitant morning, the mistral and the tramontane will rise and bring back the sun. In Corsica, after a brief but vigorous stormy passage in the morning, the sunny spells will return in less torrid air than the day before. Finally, next Friday, we will find a great summer classic, with rain or showers in the north of the country due to the descent of a British disturbance, more sun towards the Mediterranean where mistral and tramontane will blow strongly , and variable skies over the central regions. Seasonal temperatures but a heavy feeling in the afternoons Throughout the week, the weather will be heavy in the east, located in limited upwellings of very hot air coming from Tunisia to central Europe. In the afternoon, the maximum will be around 30°C from Alsace to the east of the Rhône and the Saône. The refreshments will be fleeting under the storms. In Corsica, the atmosphere could even become scorching and the 40°C reached due to the Sirocco on Wednesday. In the west and north, it’s Atlantic air that concerns you, with seasonal temperatures, even a little lower south of the Garonne, but the feeling will nevertheless be heavy, especially in the afternoons in due to high humidity.
