The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released a list of types of milk that people should avoid for health reasons. Experts advise not to consume them even if they look fine and advise customers to reach for non-dairy alternatives such as oat and almond milks or café maté cream. According to the FDA’s notice, the products had an expiration date of August 22 because they could potentially contain an egg allergen. The agency warned that people who are allergic to eggs or those who suffer from a “severe allergy” could “risk a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” when consuming the milk. Royal Crest Dairy confirmed that the contamination occurred when via a food filter through which a product containing eggs passed, then chocolate milk passed through. The products were distributed to retailers in southern Colorado, and any customer who purchased such milk was advised to return it to the retailer.
