The body of a child found in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne four days after the disappearance of a girl from 1 – France 3 Régions

It was around 7 p.m. this Monday evening, that a body was brought back to the beach of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne by the firefighters, four days later. the disappearance of a little girl, swept away by the current on Friday in Meschers-sur-Gironde.

An instructor from the sailing base had located the body at sea.

“My colleague called the beach rescuers to say that the body was going to run aground in their area, they secured the beach and evacuated all the people”, recounted this Tuesday morning one of the monitors of the nautical center of Saint-Georges -de-Didonne.

The 11-year-old girl, originally from Orléans, was in summer camp in Meschers-sur-Gironde. On August 13 at the end of the afternoon, several
children of the group were surprised by the current. Three of them, including a monitor, were then rescued. Significant research resources were mobilized on August 14 to try to find the girl.

The Saintes prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to understand the circumstances of this tragedy.
