MEDIA – The controversy surrounding the controversial film Unplanned continues. This Tuesday August 17, the Superior council of audio-visual announced to the HuffPost have received reports, following the broadcast, this Monday evening, of the anti-abortion feature film on C8.

A controversial production

The story ofUnplanned, inspired by real events, is that of a certain Abby Johnson. Spokesperson then director of the Texan branch of Planned Parenthood in Bryan, United States, one day she attends the abortion of a young woman, then thirteen weeks pregnant. Unlike the interventions in which she participated in the past, this one upsets her. She is traumatized and decides, in the process, to resign from her post to engage in the fight against abortion.

When it was released in theaters, the film had some success across the ocean, especially with critics of abortion, such as former Donald Trump vice-president Mike Pence, who sees in this phenomenon a “rediscovered” recognition of Americans for “the sanctity of life”.

Produced by an evangelist company, it generated $ 12 million in revenue. This, even as several states, such as Mississippi, Kentucky and Georgia, at the same time banned abortions as soon as a heartbeat could be detected in the fetus.

At C8, not a first

The contextual banner, which had notably been requested by a petition signed by nearly 20,000 people on the day of the broadcast, did not seem to convince everyone. For the site of Days, it is “a false-ass warning”. “And no that does not bind only its author, but also the channel which decides to diffuse it”, specifies the medium in a tweet.

The film, broadcast at prime time, is not the first controversy on this subject from the channel of Vincent Bolloré, a practicing Catholic who has never hidden his conservative convictions.
