“I’m going to rape you”: a man sentenced to two years in prison for threats on Twitter – franceinfo

A 20-year-old man, tried in immediate appearance, was sentenced Monday, August 16 in Pontoise (Val-d’Oise) to two years of suspended imprisonment for having made multiple death threats against a young woman spotted on the networks social.

He had been taken into custody on Sunday in the police premises of Val-d’Oise for having threatened with death and rape on social networks this young woman he did not know and who had spurned him.

In a long thread of messages on Twitter, shared more than 28,000 times, the victim, just major, had revealed the intense harassment suffered for several weeks. According to the screenshots released, the insults began via private messages on Instagram in early June. By August, the messages, emanating from several accounts to confuse the issue, had become more virulent.

“You, I catch you, I’m going to rape you”, “I’m going to slaughter your family”, belching his stalker in audio messages, demanding that he contact her to chat. He was filming himself looking for the young woman in Paris and in Essonne where she lives. In one of his videos, he brandished a knife while throwing at her: “Dare to come, I’m waiting for you”. He also told him not to press charges.

After the stir aroused on the social network, and the investigations of the police, the young man, already known to justice for similar facts, finally presented himself to the police station. Another investigation remains open on the actions of certain individuals who wished to do battle with him, said the prosecution.
