The Redmi Note 10 5G is a variation that brings support for the new mobile network in Xiaomi’s range of affordable smartphones. The model with 128 GB of storage is currently negotiated at a very good price at Fnac, since it is available at only 219 euros in a pack with a Mi Smart Band 5 offered.

To obtain compatibility with 5G, this model of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 obviously had to make some sacrifices in order to keep a competitive price. But if you are ready to accept the absence of a 60 Hz OLED screen in return for a 90 Hz LCD panel or the composition of a photo module that goes from four to three sensors compared to the classic Redmi Note 10, then this smartphone is for you. “Same same, but different”

the Redmi Note 10 5G is a variation of the classic model, with basically the same design, but it would be crazy to think that they are the same smartphones. In hand, we immediately feel the difference as it has become overweight compared to the Note 10, because it is heavier, thicker, but also taller. Its screen goes from a diagonal of 6.43 inches to 6.5 inches. On the other hand, the panel is no longer OLED, but LCD with a perfectible calibration. Too bad, but the refresh rate at 90 Hz is catching up a bit.

The divergences continue on the side of the photo, since the smartphone does not offer four, but three photo sensors on the back, the composition of which is as follows: a main camera of 48 megapixels, a depth sensor 2 megapixels and another of 2 megapixels for the macro. As you will have noticed, this 5G version therefore skips the ultra wide-angle, without even offering impeccable quality via the other sensors. The portrait mode is correct, the 48 Mgx mode does not add anything more and the macro is clearly collected. By night ? Let’s not talk about it.

5G at the expense of autonomy

However, it makes up for it in terms of performance by integrating the SoC Dimensity 700 instead of the Snapdragon 678. In addition to providing 5G compatibility, MadiaTek’s chip is intended to be slightly more powerful than that of Qualcomm, especially for video games. You won’t be able to play Fortnite, but you will surely find your happiness with other titles available on the Play Store. Everything is also accompanied by 4 GB of RAM, regardless of the storage capacity chosen.

Xiaomi finally incorporates the same large 5,000 mAh battery as the 4G version of the smartphone, but it is clear that the results are a little worse for the Redmi Note 10 5G. Due to a more energy-consuming 90 Hz LCD screen and a more greedy processor, it can last a day and a half while the classic Redmi Note 10 could climb up to two days without forcing. Regarding the connected bracelet from Xiaomi, this is the old generation which obviously does not include the SpO2 sensor to analyze the level of oxygen saturation in the blood, but the Mi Smart Band 5 already offers tons of practical features for health (heart rate and sleep analysis, menstrual cycle tracking, etc.) and sports (up to 11 recognized sports activities, including swimming).
