Actress Anne Heche has a ‘long recovery ahead’ after car accident

(CNN) — Anne Heche remains hospitalized and in intensive care after the car she was driving Friday crashed into a Los Angeles residence and was engulfed in flames. “Anne is in the ICU, she is lucky to be alive. She has severe burns and a long recovery ahead of her. His team and family are still trying to process what led up to the accident,” a source close to Heche told CNN on Saturday morning. The vehicle was traveling at high speed when it went off the road and collided with a residence, said the Los Angeles police public information officer Jeff Lee told CNN Friday. Heche was taken in critical condition to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. It took more than an hour for firefighters to “access, confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames within the severely damaged structure,” the LAFD said. No other injuries were reported. CNN has contacted representatives for Anne Heche for comment. Heche first rose to fame on the soap opera “Another World,” where she played the dual role of twins Vicky Hudson and Marley Love from 1987 to 1991 and won a Daytime Emmy Award. She followed up with movies like “Donnie Brasco,” “Six Days Seven Nights,” and “Wag the Dog.” Her romantic relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in the late 1990s garnered intense media attention, much to Heche’s professional frustration. In a 2021 interview with Page Six, Heche said that she felt “blacklisted” after going public with her relationship. “I haven’t done a studio photo for 10 years,” said Heche, who dated DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000.
