The International Descent of the Sella returns after two years of hiatus due to the pandemic

The French paddlers Quentin Urban and Jeremy Candy have been the winners of the 84th edition of the Sella International Descent, proof that it had not been held since 2019 due to the restrictions derived from the Covid-19 pandemic. Urban and Candy prevailed in a tight sprint with three other Spanish boats to be the first to reach the finish line located on the Ribadesella bridge, marking a time of one hour, 45 minutes and three seconds. The French arrived ahead of the K-2 of Walter Bouzán and Álvaro Fernández Fiuza, who were second, and that of Julio Martínez and Emilio Llamado, who were third. In the sprint, the couple made up of Miguel Llorens and Alberto Plaza would finish fourth. ‘Asturias, beloved homeland’ was sung. The winners of the last edition, Julián Becerro and Miguel Fernández, came out in the best position, but were blocked in a spectacular start by the Argentines Dardo Antonio Balboa and Franco Iván Balboa. They finished sixth and fifth respectively, arriving at the finish line seconds later than the first four boats.
