The firefighter who officiated in Saint-Lyphard, near Guérande, died during an intervention for a fire in the fields on Friday evening. A firefighter died on Friday August 5 during an intervention for a fire in fields north of Saint-Nazaire, announced the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis). The victim is a man of around 50, according to the Loire-Atlantique prefecture. “It is with immense sadness that Sdis 44 announces the death in service of the head of the Saint Lyphard center during an intervention for a field fire. Our thoughts go out to his family and loved ones”, wrote on Twitter the Loire-Atlantique Sdis. The firefighters did not wish to give more details on the circumstances of the tragedy. According to France Bleu Loire-Atlantique, the firefighter suffered a heart attack during the intervention. The firefighter died in hospital, said the Loire-Atlantique prefecture. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin offered his condolences to the firefighter’s family in a message posted Friday evening on Twitter. On July 6, 2021, the department’s firefighters were bereaved by the death of a 60-year-old volunteer firefighter during training with a team of water rescuers from Sdis in Pornic.
