The cold front at the head of which the storms are forming is already raging in the neighboring Czech Republic, where storms are occurring that are accompanied by intense precipitation and strong gusty winds. The storms are already starting to cause the first complications. The weather in the Czech Republic is influenced by a cold front on which fairly significant storms form. It is not a large-scale storm system, which is relatively common in the case of the passage of cold fronts, but locally very strong storms are forming. They were the first to hit southern Bohemia, where problems were mainly caused by torrential rainfall. In the area, the so-called train effect, i.e. to the regeneration of storm cells. Several storms occurred in one area. This also results in more significant precipitation totals. For example, 60 mm of rain fell at the Husinec station, which could cause flash floods. However, more damage is currently caused by storms in the Czech Republic, where storms are accompanied by strong gusty winds. A downburst was also recorded. A power line fell on the D1 highway. A strong storm is currently moving from southern Bohemia to central Bohemia, where it brings strong winds. The storm caused problems especially on the Czech highway D1 between Prague and Brno. Around 21:00, a strong wind storm swept through the highway area, bending even the high voltage power lines. The police of the Czech Republic closed the D1 highway in both directions for 15 km from 21:00 after a high voltage line fell on the main road. The police informed a few minutes ago that the highway will be closed until the morning hours. According to the statement of the technician of the energy company, it is necessary to come to the place with heavy equipment in order to clean up all the consequences after the storm.
