Updated 10:35 06/08/2022, 09:32 At least 12 people lost their lives on Saturday morning in an accident involving a Polish bus on the A4 highway in Croatia. Another 34 people were injured, many of them in serious condition, the Jutarnji.hr news website reported, citing police sources. According to the first information, the serious traffic accident occurred at 5:30 a.m. on the Zagreb-Goričanin route in the direction of the Croatian capital, where the bus went off the road. The bus was carrying pilgrims from Poland who were on their way to Medjugorje. The police have not yet given the official cause of the tragic accident, but unofficially they are working with the version that the driver most likely fell asleep behind the wheel, the server writes. The section of the highway between the villages of Breznički hum and Komin in the direction of Zagreb was closed as a result of the accident and a convoy was formed. The injured were taken to local hospitals, many of them in serious condition. Croatian Minister of the Interior Davor Božinovič also came to the scene of the accident, writes the server Večernji.hr.
