It is a tradition to which we do not derogate: with each version of Android its Easter egg. The octopus of Android 8 or the marshmallows of Android 6, each brings its share of surprises.

Android 12 being in beta since May, we were eagerly awaiting to know the newcomer. We had to wait for version 4 of the beta to get our hands on it. The new Easter egg (can we still use the expression as the functionality has grown in popularity?) Aims this time to highlight two main ideas: Material You and the number 12.

Google proud of its colors

With all the efforts that have been put into the design of this new interface, it would have been a shame not to take advantage of it. As usual, to launch the Easter egg, go to the settings, in the “About phone” tab. There, find your version of Android then press it several times.

You should see a clock appear on your wallpaper. In order to emphasize one of the main features of Android 12, the clock in question takes the colors of your wallpaper.

Noon, the hour of the crime

Since it is a clock, it logically displays your system time. But if you start to want to play with it, you will see that you can change the time by rotating the hands. If your wallpaper is animated then you will see it cycle time-lapse.

The final secret is unlocked by causing the clock to indicate 12 o’clock. There, you will be able to see your wallpaper explode into bubbles of various sizes, just like Material You.

If you want to try Android 12 for yourself, to try out its new features or just its Easter egg, we have a tutorial that explains how to install it. Be careful though, this is still a beta, and only a handful of smartphones are currently compatible.
