Stains: two police officers fire after refusing to comply, several injured – teller report

On the night of Sunday 15 to Monday 16 August, in Stains (Seine-Saint-Denis) two police officers shot dead two people who refused to be checked in their vehicle, we learned on Monday from corroborating sources . The two officers were themselves injured, while the two people in the car “were taken to hospital with a life-threatening prognosis”, according to the police headquarters.

The Bobigny public prosecutor’s office then indicated that the IGPN (General Inspectorate of the National Police) was seized of the investigation, opened for “refusal to comply” and “attempted homicide on a person holding public authority” . The judicial police of Seine-Saint-Denis were jointly seized.

The facts occurred around 1:30 am. A source close to the investigation told AFP that a crew of the anti-crime brigade (BAC) tried to control a vehicle occupied by a man and a passenger, Boulevard Maxime Gorki, in Stains.

The car first came to a stop near the police, before reversing to try to escape control. One of the officials then tried to enter the passenger compartment of the vehicle to stop it, but it would have driven forward.

An amateur video, broadcast and widely shared on social networks, shows the two agents then repeatedly firing at the car, with their service weapon. This is confirmed by the information from TF1 / LCI.

Laëtitia Vallar, spokesperson for the police headquarters, explains in a video posted on social networks, including Twitter, that “the driver and passenger were taken to hospital with a life-threatening prognosis”. The two policemen “also injured” during the operation “were taken to hospital”, she added. According to our information, one of the officers sustained injuries to his hand and knee; the other at the ankle.
