The stele tribute to Simone Veil, in Perros-Guirec, again degraded – The HuffPost

ANTISEMISTIMS – For the second time in just a few days, the tribute to Simone veil, in the town of Perros-Guirec (Côtes-d’Armor), has been degraded. The facts occurred during the night of Friday 13 August to Saturday 14 August.

Quickly on Twitter, the prefect of Côtes-d’Armor, Thierry Mosimann, strongly condemned this new degradation, calling on “anyone with information” to contact the gendarmerie.

According to West France, the monument was quickly covered in order to hide these new defilements.

“We will never tolerate the installation of anti-Semitism,” responded Emmanuel Macron at the end of the day.

We will never allow anti-Semitism to take hold. For Simone Veil, whose stele has been desecrated, to all of you, I want to repeat it: France will not retreat.

Already, Wednesday, the stele had found covered tags and swastikas. The town hall had again proceeded quickly to its cleaning.

Several personalities had reacted and condemned these degradations like Marlène Schiappa. ”#SimoneVeil is a French and global figure for women’s rights, Europe and the fight against anti-Semitism. To degrade its stele is to degrade France! These abject acts must not go unpunished ”, had published on Twittter in particular the Minister Delegate to the Ministry of the Interior.

Installed on the forecourt of the Town Hall, renamed “Parvis Simone-Veil”, this granite stele was inaugurated in November 2017. According to a count of West France, this is the fourth time that the monument has been degraded in a fortnight. He had already been twice last week.
