Police arrest two people for the robbery at the Atrio restaurant last October – Onda Cero

READ MORE The Atrio winery in Cáceres suffers a million-dollar robbery The National Police have arrested two people for the theft of 45 bottles of wine at the Atrio restaurant in Cáceres. One of those bottles was valued at 310,000 euros. Both people have been arrested at a Croatian border post after an investigation by the National Police in coordination with Europol and Interpol, although the stolen loot has not been recovered. The robbery took place on October 27 at the Atrio de Cáceres hotel. The two detainees went to dinner at the hotel restaurant since one of them was staying there with a false identification document. After dinner, the staff invited them to visit the cellar, a common practice with customers. Moments later, one of the detainees left the room and went to the cellar with a previously stolen master key and came out with three large backpacks, in which he kept the 45 stolen bottles of wine, worth 1,648,500 euros. The theft was discovered the next morning by hotel staff after they realized the thieves had left at around 5:30am. In total, 38 bottles of Romanée Conti were stolen, valued at 12,000 euros on the hotel menu, and 7 of Chateau d’Yquem, including the historic bottle that the owners of Atrio acquired in 2000 in the house of Christie’s auctions in London. The Police have published a video on social networks of the moment of the robbery in which one of the detainees can be seen entering the cellar and leaving with the three backpacks loaded with wine.
