– New daily death record in Russia –

Russian authorities on Saturday reported 819 deaths linked to Covid-19 in 24 hours, a record for the third consecutive day due to the Delta variant and a sluggish vaccination campaign.

– New turn of the screw in Sydney –

The restrictions will be tightened in Sydney, which is entering its eighth week of containment, Australian authorities said on Saturday, saying it was “the most worrying day since the start of the pandemic”.
