Dolores Delgado resigns from the position of attorney general “for personal reasons”

07/19/2022 Updated at 11:45 a.m. This functionality is only for subscribers Subscribe After two and a half years as state attorney general, Dolores Delgado is leaving office “for personal reasons.” As El Confidencial has advanced and ABC has been able to confirm from Executive sources, the Government plans to place the head of the Technical Secretariat, Álvaro García Ortiz, at the head of the Public Ministry. Although Delgado has announced his resignation “for personal reasons” (during the last two months a back operation has kept him practically away from his professional duties), the truth is that it comes after a term marked by controversy and permanent questioning of his appointment as attorney general without solution of continuity from the Ministry of Justice. Precisely last week the European Commission made a request to Spain to strengthen the independence between the Executive and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
