Asterion buys the Italian Irideos to expand its fiber optic network Rome, Jul 18 (.).- The infrastructure investment company Asterion Industrial Partners has bought the digital operator Irideos to create a fiber optic platform in the country and increase its portfolio European digital company, the buyer announced in a statement on Monday. Asterion, based in Madrid, has acquired 78.4% of Irideos from Fondi Italiani per le Infrastrutture (F2i) and, although the operation is still subject to the approval of the market authorities, it is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022. Irideos is a leading digital infrastructure operator in Italy dedicated to supporting companies and public administrations through digital transformation processes combining the use of the cloud, data centers, fiber optics, security and innovation. It has data centers in Rome and in northern Milan, Verona and Trento (north) and with 27,000 kilometers of fiber optics along the country’s main highways, as well as the largest Italian interconnection center in the Milanese capital. With the purchase, which follows the one made in November 2021 of the Italian fiber network Retelit, Asterion will strengthen its presence in the transalpine country and in Europe, where it already manages 49,000 kilometers of fiber and several data centers in Spain, United Kingdom and Ireland.
